Dr. Cerny was born and raised in Slovakia and emigrated to the US when she was just 17 years old. Just like the level of care she provides her patients, Dr. Julia pursued her education and received a B.A. in Biology from Rutgers University where she’s earned an Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Neuroscience for her participation in the research of Inhibition Of Return under the supervision of Dr. Ann Sereno.
Dr. Julia Cerny has received many scholarships for her academic achievements and continued her education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where, in 2005 she’s earned her DMD degree. She was a member of the Prosthodontic Honor Society and participated in many volunteer projects (Give Kids a Smile day).
She further received more education while attending an AEGD general residency program at the Hudson Valley VA in Montrose, NY, & Castle Point, NY.
After the residency completion in June of 2006, Dr. Julia Cerny joined the Indian Health Service and practiced dentistry for the underserved on a Navajo Reservation in Arizona. She’s served the Native tribes of Navajo, Apache, Hopi, and more.
Dr. Cerny performs all levels of dentistry, from children to adults of all ages. In her 11 years of practice, she’s become proficient in all aspects, including preventative, restorative (fillings, crowns, bridges, implant restorations, veneers), cosmetic (teeth whitening, veneers, anterior esthetic restorations), removable prosthetics (partial dentures, full dentures), root canal therapy, periodontal therapy, and oral surgery.
Dr. Cerny is an active member of the American Dental Association and the local Third District Dental Society. She is a member of Colonie Chamber of Commerce, South Colonie PTA, and a proud parent of an High Honor Student. Dr. Cerny is also a faculty member at the Albany Medical College PA program and provides dental lectures to the students of the PA program.
